Peddamma Temple
The Jubilee Hills temple to the city’s guardian goddess, busiest on a Sunday.
Peddamma Temple
Peddamma Thalli is a guardian goddess of the Telangana country, and the temple to her in Jubilee Hills is one of the busiest in modern Hyderabad — which is a different kind of site from the Qutb Shahi and Asaf Jahi monuments the city is better known for. It is a living neighbourhood temple with a large local following rather than a heritage building, and it is at its fullest on Sundays and through Bonalu, the monsoon festival in which the goddess is honoured across the twin cities. Visitors who want to see the religious life of the present-day city, rather than its dynastic past, will find more of it here than in the old city palaces.
