When is your Brazil?
Summer is hot, humid and lively, and it is when Carnival falls. September to November and March to May are more comfortable for walking the city while the sea is still warm.
There is no dry season, only wetter and less wet. High water from around December to May floods the forest and is better for boats and canoe trips; the drier months open up forest walks and river beaches.
The clear choice for wildlife. As the wetland dries, animals concentrate around the remaining water and jaguar sightings become far more likely.
Subtropical and green throughout. The falls run fullest after the summer rains; December to February is hot and busy.
Salvador, Recife and the beaches north of them are at their driest and sunniest in the southern spring and summer. The wettest months on that coast fall around April to July.

Brazil visa — what you need to know
Indian passport holders need a visa for Brazil. For tourism the relevant category is the VIVIS visitor visa, applied for through the Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi. There is no visa on arrival.
A note on sponsor documents Where a trip is sponsored, the embassy accepts documents signed digitally and sent by e-mail as an alternative to notarised originals.
