When is your Korea?
The best weeks of the Korean year: crisp, dry, blue-skied, and the maples turning from Seoraksan in mid-October down to the palaces of Seoul by early November. Chuseok, the harvest holiday, falls in September or October and closes much of the country for three days — plan around it.
Cherry blossom moves north from Busan and the Jinhae festival at the end of March to Seoul in the first half of April. April and May are mild and comfortable everywhere. Spring dust from the mainland can haze the sky on some days.
The jangma rains arrive in late June and run through July; August is hot and humid with typhoons possible into September. Beach season at Haeundae and on Jeju, and Indian school holidays make it the most common time to travel — go prepared for rain.
Seoul regularly drops well below freezing but the air is dry and the skies clear. Palaces under snow, skiing at Pyeongchang, hot stews and the lowest hotel rates of the year. Jeju is milder. Seollal, the lunar new year, closes things for a few days.

South Korea visa — what you need to know
Indian passport holders need a visa for South Korea, and for a holiday that is the C-3-9 short-term tourist visa. It is applied for in person in India, through the Korean mission responsible for the state you live in, and the missions themselves publish the fee, the documents and the time to allow.
Fee and processing, as the missions publish them The Korean missions in India publish a single-entry visa fee of ₹3,600 for a stay of up to ninety days from August 2026, with the application centre's service fee charged separately. The Consulate General in Mumbai publishes a standard processing time of ten working days, states that visas are generally issued within ten days of application, and asks applicants to apply at least one month before travel; the Embassy in New Delhi publishes no processing time on its visa page. A three-working-day express service exists but excludes first-time tourist applicants. The passport remains with the mission during processing, the visa is valid for entry for three months from issue, and the missions state that a visa may be delayed, refused or made subject to further documents, and that a genuine applicant can be refused if papers are missing or the stated purpose does not match the visa. These are the missions' own figures, they change, and they are not a guaranteed end-to-end timeline. Apply a month or more ahead, and do not book non-refundable travel before the visa is in hand. Final visa decisions remain with the Korean authorities.
