When to go to Cambodia
The most comfortable months — warm days, low humidity and little rain. Ideal for long temple days at Angkor. It is also the busiest and most expensive period, and sunrise at Angkor Wat is crowded.
Increasingly hot, often well above forty degrees in April. Temple visiting is best restricted to early morning and late afternoon. Fewer visitors and lower rates compensate.
Afternoon downpours rather than all-day rain. The countryside is green, the moats are full, Ta Prohm looks its best and crowds are thin. Tonlé Sap is at its fullest for village visits.
The heaviest rainfall, with some rural roads affected. Angkor itself remains fully accessible and is at its most atmospheric.

Cambodia entry — e-visa or on arrival
The tourist e-visa is applied for entirely online, costs USD 30 and is normally approved within about three working days. It is single entry, valid for three months from issue, and permits a stay of thirty days. Visa on arrival is also available at the main airports and land crossings at USD 30 plus a USD 6 processing charge, making USD 36 at the counter.
Processing time About three working days for the e-visa. At the airport counter, allow fifteen to twenty minutes, or thirty to forty-five in the November-to-March peak.
