How much time you need
When to go to Saudi Arabia
The only comfortable window for AlUla, Riyadh, the Empty Quarter and anything outdoors. Days are mild and desert nights are genuinely cold — take a jacket. This is also when the events calendar runs, so plan early.
Hot but workable if outdoor time is kept to early morning and late afternoon. The Asir highlands in the south-west stay pleasant far longer than the rest of the country.
Severe heat across the interior and humid heat on the Red Sea coast. Abha and the Asir mountains are the exception — they are cool, green and catch monsoon cloud, and are where Saudis themselves go in summer.

Saudi entry — it depends what you hold
Saudi Arabia offers Indian passport holders different entry routes depending on what else they hold, and the distinction is not cosmetic — it changes whether you can apply online at all. Travellers who hold a valid US, UK or Schengen tourist or business visa, or residence in one of those, can use the eVisa or take a visa on arrival. Travellers who hold none of those, and who are not GCC residents, cannot obtain a standalone tourist eVisa; their routes are a Package Visa arranged through a qualified travel agency, an application through the embassy or an authorised visa office, or a transit visa. Verify your own position on the official Visit Saudi portal before booking anything.
How far ahead Timelines depend entirely on the route. The eVisa route is issued online and is generally quick; the Package Visa requires travel to begin at least forty-eight hours after the package is purchased; embassy and authorised-office applications run to their own schedules and are the slowest. Saudi authorities do not publish a guaranteed end-to-end figure for any of them, so start well ahead rather than to a minimum, and confirm the current position on the official portal before you book non-refundable travel.
