Halfway up, by bus

The Subaru Line runs from the Fuji lakes up to 2,300 metres on the mountain’s north side, and the Fifth Station at the top of it is where the Yoshida climbing trail starts. For non-climbers it is the easiest way to be on Fuji rather than looking at it — you are usually above the cloud line, with the Fuji Five Lakes below and the Southern Alps on the horizon. It is open roughly late April to early December, and during the climbing season it is very busy indeed.
