Nature & Seasons

Not events anyone organises — a bloom, a sky and a season, and the narrow windows they keep.

How to choose

Choosing within Nature & Seasons

Plan them as a window and not a day. Forecasts for blossom and bloom firm up only weeks ahead, and the aurora needs dark, clear nights that no forecast can promise — which is why the honest advice for all three is the same: allow several days, and treat any single night or morning as one attempt rather than the attempt.

The compensation is that the surrounding trip is good regardless. A week in Japan in spring, in the Nordics in winter or in the Netherlands in April is worth taking on its own terms, and that is the right way to judge whether to book: the phenomenon is the hope, not the itinerary.

Nature & Seasons

These are the entries on this site that no committee schedules. A blossom front, an aurora and a bulb field are natural or horticultural events with a season rather than a date, and treating them as festivals with a start time is the single most common way a trip built around one goes wrong.
