Aman names its first Maldives resort Amanolu, with an opening planned for 2028
Aman has named its first Maldives resort Amanolu: 52 keys and 16 private-island residences in Vaavu Atoll, with an opening planned for 2028. It is not open and is not yet bookable.
What was announced
Aman, the ultra-luxury hotel group, has named its first resort in the Maldives Amanolu and says it is scheduled to open in Vaavu Atoll in 2028, Hotelier Maldives and Euronews reported on 24 September. Aman’s own website now lists Amanolu, Republic of Maldives, as “coming soon”, without a date. We could not reach a dated Aman press release, so the details below are as the two publications report them.
What is new this week is the name and the 2028 opening year. We have not been able to open a dated source for when Aman first announced a Maldives project, so this article does not date the original announcement.
The resort as planned
Designed by Kerry Hill Architects, a long-time Aman collaborator, Amanolu is planned with 52 guest accommodations and 16 Aman-branded residences, each residence on its own private island within the development. Hotelier Maldives reports a dedicated wellness island with an Aman Spa and Spa Houses, and a separate activity island for diving, snorkelling and watersports. Euronews reports that the name combines the Sanskrit word for peace with “olu”, a water lily found across the Indian Ocean region. Rates, the opening month and the owner have not been announced.
What it means for travellers
Nothing can be booked yet, and a 2028 opening for an island resort built from scratch can move. For now this is a name to note for a future Maldives honeymoon or milestone trip, not a stay to plan. Transfer arrangements have not been announced. We will report when Aman opens reservations or confirms an opening month.
