Malaysia Airlines goes daily to Fukuoka and brings back Busan in December

Kuala Lumpur adds East Asian frequencies for the winter: Fukuoka daily from 1 December, Busan resuming 2 December, Brisbane daily from 25 October.

The changes

Malaysia Aviation Group announced on 4 September that Malaysia Airlines will increase Kuala Lumpur–Fukuoka to daily from 1 December, up from five flights a week; the route itself resumed on 2 September. Kuala Lumpur–Busan returns on 2 December with four flights a week on the Boeing 737-8.

Beyond East Asia, Brisbane moves from six weekly flights to daily from 25 October with the A330neo, and Surabaya rises from 14 to 16 weekly flights on 1 November. The group’s low-cost arm Firefly will enter China with Kunming on the Boeing 737-800, with no launch date given. MAG president and group chief executive Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar said the airline is "strengthening our network where there is demand, reconnecting established markets and expanding into new ones".

Why this matters from India

Kuala Lumpur is one of the standard one-stop hubs from Indian metros to East Asia and Australia, and these are the connecting legs rather than the India legs. Daily Fukuoka is the most useful addition: Kyushu is the least-served part of Japan from India and a daily service makes a same-day connection realistic rather than an overnight in KL.

Busan opens a second Korean gateway beyond Seoul for South Korea itineraries, and the Brisbane increase is worth noting for Australia trips over the Indian winter. The announcement makes no mention of India-specific schedule changes, so check that your India–KL timing actually connects to these new frequencies before booking through.
