Mumbai–Hanoi goes nonstop: Akasa Air flies, IndiGo daily from 25 October
Akasa Air operated the first Mumbai–Hanoi flight by an Indian carrier on 4 September, four times a week. IndiGo has announced a daily service from 25 October 2026.
Akasa Air: first Indian carrier on the route
Akasa Air’s inaugural QP625 left Mumbai at 5:35 am on Thursday 4 September 2026 and landed at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport at noon local time, the Vietnam News Agency reported. The return, QP626, departs Hanoi at 1:30 pm and arrives in Mumbai at 5:10 pm. The service operates four times a week, on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with a Boeing 737 MAX; flight time is about five hours.
Hanoi is Akasa’s seventh international destination and its second in Southeast Asia after Phuket. VietnamPlus describes it as the first direct Mumbai–Hanoi service operated by an Indian airline; Vietnamese carriers already fly the pair. Vietnam’s ambassador to India, Trinh Minh Manh, said the link would open opportunities in tourism, trade and people-to-people exchange.
IndiGo: daily from 25 October
IndiGo announced on 2 September a daily Mumbai–Hanoi service from 25 October 2026: 6E 1637 departs Mumbai at 04:15 and arrives Hanoi at 10:00; 6E 1638 departs Hanoi at 19:05 and arrives Mumbai at 23:05, local times. The schedule is subject to regulatory approvals. IndiGo will offer its IndiGoStretch premium cabin on the route, which complements its existing daily Delhi–Hanoi and Kolkata–Hanoi flights. Neither airline has published fares.
What it means for Vietnam trips
Until this week, Mumbai travellers heading north in Vietnam either connected through Delhi, Bangkok or Singapore, or flew a Vietnamese carrier. From late October there will be up to eleven nonstop departures a week from Mumbai. Hanoi is the gateway for Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and Sapa, and pairs naturally with a domestic hop to Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City on the way back.
Both timetables are early-morning departures from Mumbai, which puts you in Hanoi with the afternoon free on day one.
