Founded by the Portuguese in the sixteenth century, demolished by the British and rebuilt at the end of the nineteenth, this is one of the few Indian churches with a fully painted interior — ceiling frescoes, coloured glass and a Gothic-influenced nave that comes as a surprise after the plainness of St Francis a few streets away.
