Belize

Belize is small, and it is two countries at once. Offshore there is the reef — the largest barrier reef in the northern hemisphere, with atolls, cayes and a marine park system that UNESCO inscribed in 1996. Inland, an hour or two from the same beach, there is rainforest with Maya cities standing in it: stepped limestone pyramids above open plazas, with howler monkeys in the canopy and almost nobody on the stairs.
It is also the one Central American country where English is the official language, which changes the trip more than it sounds. Belize was British Honduras until 1973 and independent in 1981; it sits in the Commonwealth, plays cricket, and is culturally Caribbean as much as Central American. For an Indian traveller used to navigating Latin America in Spanish, that is a genuine practical difference.
The reef carries a story worth knowing. It was placed on UNESCO’s List of World Heritage in Danger in 2009 — oil concessions, mangrove clearance, unchecked coastal development — and it came back off that list in 2018 after Belize acted. It is one of the few times a country has reversed that judgment. The reef you dive today is one a small country fought for.

Belize is tropical and warm all year. The dry season is better for diving and for unpaved roads; the green season is cheaper, emptier and greener, and carries Atlantic storm risk.

Belize entry — a US visa may be all you need
Indian passport holders require a Belizean visa. But India’s own foreign ministry records that Belize admits Indian nationals holding a valid US visa or US residence permit without one.
The Ministry of External Affairs states it plainly in its India–Belize bilateral brief: "Belize has allowed visa free entry of Indian nationals holding valid US Visa or US Residence Permit for single visits for non-employment purposes." The same paragraph explains why that mattered — it "addressed the long-standing grievance of the Indian community in Belize about difficulties in getting visas for their family members" — which is also the clearest statement that an Indian passport without one of those documents does require a Belizean visa. The Belize Tourism Board’s own visa page lists the exempt nationalities as the United States and its territories, Canada, the United Kingdom and its territories, the European Union, and Caribbean and Central American countries. India is not among them. Separately from the visa, the Tourism Board states that visitors must hold a passport valid for at least 30 days after arrival, and "a return ticket with sufficient funds to cover their stay", and that "visitors are given a one-month stay, after which an extension can be applied for with the Immigration Department".

No source read here extends it to Canadian, Schengen or other visas for an Indian passport. Do not assume it.
A passport valid at least 30 days beyond arrival, a return ticket and sufficient funds are stated requirements for visitors.

Four ways to travel Belize
The country is compact enough that reef and rainforest are a morning apart. Most trips take one cayes base and one inland base.
The reef side: island bases on the barrier reef, and the three atolls further out for the serious diving.
The inland half: rainforest, rivers, caves and the Maya cities, based around San Ignacio near the Guatemalan border.
Garifuna country and the quietest beaches, with the Sapodilla and South Water cayes offshore and jaguar forest inland.
