Italy strike alert: Rome airport security and easyJet crews out on Sunday 13 September

What is on the register

Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport publishes every proclaimed transport strike. For Sunday 13 September 2026 the register lists, in air transport: a 24-hour strike (00:00 to 24:00) by staff of ADR Security at Rome’s Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, called by FAST-CONFSAL; a 24-hour strike (00:00 to 23:59) by easyJet Airlines Limited flight crew, called by USB Lavoro Privato and proclaimed on 31 August; and a four-hour action (11:00 to 15:00) by Aviation Services staff at the two Rome airports.

Outside Rome, the same day carries four-hour strikes (11:00 to 15:00) at Pisa and Florence airports (Toscana Aeroporti, GH Toscana and Consulta staff) and at Cagliari (SOGAER group), a further 13:00 to 17:00 action at Cagliari, and 24-hour strikes at Alghero (SOGEAAL) and Olbia (GEASAR). A separate four-hour strike by Poste Air Cargo flight crew is listed for 11 September (00:00 to 04:00) and does not affect passenger flights.

What it means for travellers in Italy that weekend

The security strike is the one to plan around: ADR Security runs the screening lanes at Fiumicino, the main gateway for Indian arrivals in Italy. Italian law protects certain flights during air-transport strikes, and airlines usually publish the guaranteed list a day or two before, so expect a reduced timetable rather than a shutdown. Arrive earlier than usual for a Sunday departure from Rome, and if you are flying easyJet within Italy or Europe on 13 September, watch for a rebooking notice.

Strikes in Italy are sometimes revoked at short notice; the ministry register is the authoritative source and shows the current status of each action. If your Italy itinerary has an internal flight on 13 September, a train is the reliable alternative between Rome, Florence and Pisa.
