Super Nintendo World exists in only a handful of places on earth, and this is where it opened first. That alone fills most people’s day.
Nintendo, Harry Potter, and long queues
USJ opened in 2001 and has become the most-visited theme park in Japan after the Disney resorts, largely on the strength of two areas: the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Super Nintendo World, which opened here in 2021 before anywhere else. Nintendo World uses a wearable wristband that turns the land into a game, and it is genuinely well executed. It is also the reason the park is difficult: entry to that area is separately controlled, and getting into it is the single thing most visitors fail to plan for.

On the bay, west of the centre, with a dedicated station.

- About 15 minutes from Osaka station with one change at Nishikujo

- Date-specific studio passes bought online in advance
- Express passes are separate, expensive, and often the difference between two rides and eight

- Nintendo World entry is claimed through the official app on the day, or bundled with an Express pass
When to go
This is among the busiest parks in the world; the date you choose dominates everything.

- Weekdays outside Japanese school holidays
- January and early February are the least busy
🚫 Avoid
- Golden Week, Obon, New Year and the Halloween season weekends
- Weekends year-round
⏰ Arrival
- Be at the gate before opening — Nintendo World entry passes go early
