When to go to Uzbekistan
Mild days, green landscapes and comfortable walking weather in cities where almost everything is done on foot. Navruz, the spring new year, falls in late March and is worth catching.
Warm days, cool evenings and the fruit harvest — melons, pomegranates and grapes at every bazaar. Generally the most comfortable window of the year.
Very hot, routinely above forty degrees, with little shade in the monument squares. Sightseeing is confined to early morning and evening, though prices and crowds both fall.
Cold, with snow possible, but the monuments are empty and the tilework against snow is memorable. Days are short and some desert routes become difficult.

Uzbekistan entry — check this one carefully
On 30 August 2026, during the Indian Prime Minister’s state visit to Tashkent, President Mirziyoyev announced a thirty-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens. It is being widely reported as though it were already operative. It is not: no decree has been published, neither Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor India’s Bureau of Immigration has announced an effective date, and until that happens Indian travellers still require an e-visa obtained in advance from e-visa.gov.uz. Confirm the position at the point of booking rather than relying on reporting.
Registration Visitors are registered at each place they stay. Hotels do this automatically and issue a slip; keep them, because they can be asked for on departure. Independent stays require attention to this.
