IndiGo starts Gaya–Bangkok nonstop flights from 26 October: Bodh Gaya’s first direct link to Thailand
IndiGo will fly Gaya–Bangkok twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, from 26 October 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Schedule, what it means for pilgrims, and visa rules.
The route
IndiGo will launch nonstop flights between Gaya in Bihar and Bangkok on 26 October 2026, twice a week, the airline announced on 24 August. Gaya’s airport serves Bodh Gaya, home to the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Buddhism’s most sacred pilgrimage sites. IndiGo says the route will connect pilgrims, tourists and leisure travellers between two places “deeply connected through centuries of shared Buddhist heritage”.
IndiGo’s schedule is “subject to all regulatory approvals”. Bookings are open through its website, app and authorised travel partners, the airline says.
Days and times
Gaya to Bangkok: flight 6E 1083 on Mondays and Thursdays, leaving Gaya at 1.15pm and arriving in Bangkok at 5.50pm. Bangkok to Gaya: flight 6E 1084 on Mondays and Thursdays, leaving Bangkok at 10.15am and arriving in Gaya at 12.15pm. All times are local.
IndiGo says it runs more than 140 weekly flights between India and Thailand, with Bangkok also served from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bhubaneswar.
What it means for travellers
For travellers from Bihar and the surrounding region, Bangkok becomes one flight away from Gaya instead of a journey via Kolkata or Delhi.
