Northeast India gets its first IndiGo international route: Guwahati to Bangkok
Twice-weekly flights from 27 October, with a second Bihar–Thailand route from Gaya the day before. Guwahati becomes IndiGo’s eighth Indian city with a nonstop to Bangkok.
What has changed
IndiGo announced on 7 September that it will fly nonstop between Guwahati and Bangkok twice a week from 27 October 2026. It is the airline’s first international route from Guwahati, and the first scheduled international service it has operated from Northeast India.
The airline is opening the route with a single inaugural flight on Tuesday 27 October, then settling into a Wednesday and Saturday pattern from 31 October. As with every IndiGo schedule filing, the timetable is subject to regulatory approvals.
The schedule
6E 1085 leaves Guwahati at 18:15 and reaches Bangkok at 22:45. 6E 1086 leaves Bangkok at 08:50 and lands in Guwahati at 10:25. Times are local, and the same pair operates on both the inaugural date and the twice-weekly pattern that follows. IndiGo has not published the aircraft type or the fares.
A second Thailand route from eastern India starts the day before: IndiGo begins twice-weekly Gaya–Bangkok flights on 26 October, announced on 24 August, linking the Bodh Gaya pilgrimage circuit directly to Thailand.
What it means for travellers in the Northeast
Until now a traveller from Assam heading to Thailand flew south to Kolkata or Delhi first and connected. A 18:15 departure that lands in Bangkok at 22:45 removes an entire domestic leg and an overnight from that journey.
It also adds Guwahati to a growing list. IndiGo already flies to Bangkok from Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai, to Phuket from Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, and to Krabi from Delhi. Guwahati is the eighth Bangkok gateway and Gaya will be the ninth.
Time the trip against the entry rules. From 15 September the Thai visa exemption for Indian passport holders is 30 days, and the Indian embassy in Bangkok now asks travellers to carry THB 20,000 in cash each along with a return ticket and hotel bookings — see our document checklist.
