Day-by-day itinerary
Met at Schiphol and driven into the city, with the first evening along the canals of the Jordaan and dinner nearby. Overnight in Amsterdam.
The Rijksmuseum with a timed entry in the morning, the half-day to the working windmills of Zaanse Schans, and a canal cruise as the lights come on. Overnight in Amsterdam.
Three and a half hours south through Belgium to Gare du Nord. The afternoon is the Seine and the Île de la Cité, and the evening the river cruise with the bridges lit. Overnight in Paris.
The Eiffel Tower with pre-booked tickets and the Trocadéro across the river in the morning, then a guided route through the Louvre. The Tuileries on the walk back. Overnight in Paris.
The palace and gardens at Versailles, or Disneyland Paris for families, both under an hour from the city and both pre-booked. Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur in the evening if there is energy left. Overnight in Paris.
From Gare de Lyon to Basel and on to Lucerne, about four and a half hours in all. The Chapel Bridge, the old town and the lakefront for the evening. Overnight in Lucerne.
To Engelberg by train and up to Titlis by cable car with the rotating Rotair cabin, for snow, the glacier cave and the Cliff Walk. The afternoon back in Lucerne or an hour on the lake by boat. Overnight in Lucerne.
The panoramic train over the Brünig Pass and along Lake Brienz, arriving for lunch. Harder Kulm above the town for the view of both lakes in the late afternoon. Overnight in Interlaken.
Through Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg to the highest railway station in Europe, with the Aletsch Glacier from the Sphinx terrace and the Ice Palace. Down via Grindelwald. Overnight in Interlaken.
A free day: a boat to the Giessbach Falls, the Lauterbrunnen valley and Trümmelbach, or the adventure park for families. A last Swiss dinner. Overnight in Interlaken.
Two hours by train to Zurich and the private transfer to the airport for your flight home.
