Day-by-day itinerary
You are met at Delhi airport and driven to your hotel. Delhi holds the remains of several successive capitals within the modern city, which is why its monuments are scattered rather than concentrated. The rest of the day is free. · Delhi
A day covering both halves of the city. In Old Delhi, the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, with the lanes of Chandni Chowk between them. In New Delhi, the wide colonial avenues, India Gate, Humayun's tomb and the Qutub Minar. · Delhi
You travel south to Agra, about 203 kilometres. Agra was the Mughal capital before Delhi and its monuments stand along the Yamuna. You check in and the rest of the day is free. · Agra
The morning is given to Agra sightseeing covering the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, on a seat-in- coach basis. You then travel west to Jaipur, about 250 kilometres, on the same seat-in-coach basis, arriving in the evening. Jaipur holds the next two nights before the route turns south. · Jaipur
A full day in Jaipur. Amber Fort stands on a ridge above a lake outside the city, built in pale stone with mirrored halls inside. In the city itself are the City Palace, the Jantar Mantar observatory with its outsized stone instruments, and the Hawa Mahal, the screen of latticed windows built so the women of the court could watch the street unseen. · Jaipur
A long travel day west, about 350 kilometres, to Jodhpur. You arrive beneath the walls of Mehrangarh fort, which rises straight out of a rock escarpment above the blue-painted old town. · Jodhpur
You travel south through the Aravalli hills, about 300 kilometres, stopping at Ranakpur where a fifteenth-century Jain temple stands on more than a thousand carved marble pillars, no two of them the same. You continue to Udaipur. · Udaipur
A day in Udaipur. The City Palace runs along the shore of Lake Pichola and is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, built up by successive rulers over four centuries. Jagdish temple, the Saheliyon ki Bari garden and the old lanes around the lake complete the day. · Udaipur
After breakfast you check out and are driven to Udaipur airport for your onward flight. Your onward flight is not part of this package, so allow the check-in time your airline requires.
