Day-by-day itinerary
You are met at the airport or station and taken to your hotel. Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, was painted pink over a century ago to honour a visiting prince, and the rest of the day is yours.
A full-day tour covers Amber Fort and Palace, a photo stop at Jal Mahal, the City Palace Museum, the Jantar Mantar observatory and the Hawa Mahal, with the evening free for the bazaars.
After breakfast you drive to Jodhpur, the Blue City, and check in. The rest of the day is at leisure.
A day in Jodhpur at Jaswant Thada, the white marble cenotaph of 1899, and Mehrangarh Fort, which rises about 125 metres above the city and includes the Moti Mahal. The Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum follows, with the evening free for the local markets.
A drive through the Thar Desert to Jaisalmer, the Golden City. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Sightseeing in Jaisalmer takes in Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon Ki Haveli and Gadisar Lake. You then drive towards the Sam Sand Dunes, stopping at the abandoned village of Kuldhara and the cenotaphs at Bada Bagh. At the dunes you check in to a desert camp, take a camel or jeep safari for the sunset, and enjoy folk music and dance in the evening.
After breakfast you check out of the camp and drive about 45 km back to Jaisalmer, then on to Jaisalmer airport or railway station for your onward journey.
