Thai AirAsia brings back six India routes to Bangkok Don Mueang, starting with Gaya on 25 October
Thai AirAsia is resuming Don Mueang flights to Gaya from 25 October, Ahmedabad from 6 November, Guwahati, Hyderabad and Lucknow from 16 November and Jaipur from 17 November.
What has changed
Thai AirAsia (flight code FD) will resume six routes between Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport and India in the fourth quarter of 2026, the airline announced on 22 September. The dates it gives are: Gaya from 25 October; Ahmedabad from 6 November; Guwahati, Hyderabad and Lucknow from 16 November; and Jaipur from 17 November. These are resumptions of routes the airline had suspended, not new routes. The Nation, reporting the announcement on 23 September, gives the same six routes and dates.
Separately, the airline says its long-haul affiliate Thai AirAsia X (XJ) will operate four flights a week between Don Mueang and New Delhi in the 2026 winter schedule. Its announcement gives no start date for Delhi, and we have not found one.
How often, and what we could not confirm
Thai AirAsia’s announcement lists start dates only — no frequencies, days or timings for the India routes. Schedule filings reported by AeroRoutes on 23 September show four weekly flights each on the Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Jaipur routes; AeroRoutes does not list Gaya, so we have no frequency for it. Treat those frequencies as filed schedules rather than the airline’s published timetable, and check days and times on the airline’s booking site before planning around them.
What it means for Indian travellers
The six cities regain a low-cost nonstop to Bangkok for the winter, when Indian passport holders can visit Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days (see our report on the exemption). Gaya, the airport for Bodh Gaya, gets its link back first. Travellers from Guwahati will also have IndiGo’s Guwahati–Bangkok flights from late October, and Hyderabad has Nok Air’s return to Don Mueang. Planning a trip? See Bangkok.
