Day 1

You are met at Kathmandu airport by the operator's representative and transferred to your hotel. Kathmandu is the capital, and the valley around it is the cultural heart of Nepal. The rest of the day is free. Meals included today: none.

Day 2

KathmanduAir-conditioned vehicle, up to 8 hours

This morning is for the Hindu and Buddhist heart of the valley. You visit Pashupatinath, the temple complex on the banks of the Bagmati river that has been on the UNESCO list since 1979, and then Boudhanath, the great stupa that is the holiest Buddhist shrine in Nepal. You continue to Patan, also called Lalitpur, whose Durbar Square holds a very dense collection of temples, then to Swayambhunath, the golden-spired stupa on a hill above the valley with its painted eyes of the Buddha, and finally to the Budhanilkantha temple, where a large reclining statue of Vishnu lies in an open-air pool. The sightseeing runs for a maximum of eight hours from the time the vehicle reports at your hotel. Meals included today: breakfast.

Day 3

KathmanduAir-conditioned vehicle, up to 6 hours

After breakfast you drive to Thankot and take the Chandragiri cable car, a gondola line of about 2.4 km that opened in 2016, up to Chandragiri Hills, 17 km from the centre of Kathmandu and 2,551 metres above sea level. On a clear day the view takes in the whole valley and the Himalaya from the Annapurna range to Everest. The cable car ticket is paid for directly. Back in town you visit Thamel, the tourist district of Kathmandu. The sightseeing is for a maximum of six hours from the time the vehicle reports at your hotel. Meals included today: breakfast.

Day 4

KathmanduAirport transfer by air-conditioned vehicle

The morning is comparatively free, and in good time for your flight you are transferred to the airport. The package services end at the airport. Meals included today: breakfast.

How long does the Kathmandu short stay of 3 nights give us for sightseeing?

There are two sightseeing days. The first is a full day of up to eight hours for Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Patan, Swayambhunath and Budhanilkantha, and the second is a half day of up to six hours that goes up to Chandragiri Hills by cable car and ends in Thamel. Arrival and departure days are kept free for your flights.

Are the guide, entrance fees and cable car ticket included in the Kathmandu 3-night package?

No. A guide is not included, and entrance fees at the monuments and the Chandragiri cable car ticket are paid for directly. The vehicle and driver take you point to point as listed, and the driver does not act as a guide.

Which meals and which vehicle does the Kathmandu 3-night package include?

Breakfast is included every day; lunches and dinners are not, although dinners can be added as an extra. The vehicle is air-conditioned and used only by your party: a car for two or three travellers, an SUV-type vehicle for four or five adults and a 14-seat van for six to ten, running point to point as listed.

Who can book the Kathmandu 3-night package, and which ID do we carry?

The programme is priced for Indian nationals holding an Indian passport or a voter ID, and does not apply to other nationalities; OCI and PIO cards are not accepted as identification in Nepal. For adults flying to Kathmandu the document is an Indian passport valid for at least six months or a voter ID; an Aadhaar card, PAN card or driving licence is not valid for the flight. Children under 18 can use a school or college ID with a bonafide school certificate. Rules change, so we confirm the current requirements when you book.

Can the Kathmandu 3-night package be extended to another part of Nepal?

Yes, but it is a different programme. Our Kathmandu and Nagarkot package adds a night in the hills, and the Kathmandu to Pokhara and back package adds the lake city. Tell us your dates and we will quote the combination. Rates are not published; the price is on request.
