Day-by-day itinerary
Your guide and driver collect you from your hotel in Luang Prabang after breakfast for the drive of about four hours to Nong Khiaw, on the Nam Ou river. On the way you stop at Ban Na Yang, a village where silk is raised and woven into traditional Lao dress, and walk through the village. After check-in in Nong Khiaw the rest of the day is free. No meals are included today.
After breakfast you walk around Nong Khiaw, its market and the bridge over the river, and climb to the Pha Xom Nang viewpoint above Nong Khiaw for the view of the town and the mountains. After check-out a boat takes you up the Nam Ou, stopping at Ban Sop Kong, a Khmu village with traditional houses, and Ban Sop Jam, to see village life on both banks. The boat then brings you to Muang Ngoi Kao, where you check in and the rest of the day is free. Meals included today: breakfast and lunch.
After breakfast you walk around Muang Ngoi to see village life. A boat then takes you down the Nam Ou, past Nong Khiaw, to the dam, about two and a half hours on the water. A car meets you there for the drive back to Luang Prabang, where the package services end. A hotel in Luang Prabang is not included. Meals included today: breakfast and lunch.
