Day 1

A private driver meets you at Seattle-Tacoma airport for the drive north into the city. The rest of the day is yours, and the best of it is on foot: down to the waterfront for the ferries crossing Elliott Bay, and up to the market in the evening, when the crowds thin. If the sky is clear, Mount Rainier appears to the south-east, floating above the city. Keep the evening early; tomorrow is embarkation day.

Day 2

SeattleShared guided tour, then transfer to the cruise port

Breakfast and check-out, with your bags held at the front desk. A shared guided tour of about three hours takes in the main sights, time permitting: Pike Place Market, the waterfront, Pioneer Square and the gold-rush museum, the fishing fleet at its terminal, the Ballard Locks and the skyline view from Kerry Park. Back to collect your luggage, then on to the cruise terminal for check-in. If you are flying out instead, tell us and we arrange the airport run.

Why arrive in Seattle the day before an Alaska cruise?

Because the ship will not wait. A late or cancelled flight on embarkation day can mean missing the sailing, and long-haul routes from India connect through other hubs. A night in Seattle removes that risk and gives you a first look at the city before you sail.

Is there enough time for the Seattle city tour before cruise check-in?

Usually yes. The tour lasts about three hours in the morning, and most ships board from late morning into the afternoon. We check your ship and terminal when you book, and if the timings are tight we adjust the tour or skip part of it so embarkation comes first.

What happens to our luggage during the Seattle tour on embarkation day?

You check out before the tour and leave your bags with the front desk, which holds them for collection. After the tour you pick them up and the transfer takes you and your luggage to the cruise terminal. Keep passports and medicines with you throughout.

Does the Seattle tour go up the Space Needle?

No. The tour passes the main sights and stops for the view of the Space Needle and skyline from Kerry Park, but entry to the tower is not included. If you want to go up, the first afternoon is the time, and we can book timed tickets.

Can we add more nights in Seattle before or after an Alaska cruise?

Yes. Seattle and the Pacific Northwest reward more time: ferries to the islands of Puget Sound, a day at Mount Rainier, or a longer stay in the city. Many cruises return to Seattle too, so a post-cruise night can be added in the same way.
