Day by day

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

PraslinShared transfer and fast ferry

After landing on Mahé you are taken to the Victoria jetty for the fast ferry to Praslin and then to your hotel. This depends on your flight arriving in time for an afternoon sailing; otherwise we plan a first night on Mahé or a short hop by air and confirm it before you travel. The evening is free.

Day 2

PraslinShared tour vehicle, half day

A half-day tour to two of Praslin’s great sights. In the Vallée de Mai, paths wind through a primeval palm forest where the coco de mer grows the heaviest seed in the plant kingdom and the rare black parrot calls overhead. Then on to Anse Lazio in the north-west, with time to swim before returning to the hotel.

Day 3

La DigueShared transfers, ferry and bicycle

A short ferry to La Digue, where you collect your bicycle at the jetty. With a guide you paddle a clear-bottomed kayak along Anse Source d’Argent, walk to a quieter cove and swim in a natural rock pool among the granite. The evening on La Digue is peaceful once the day boats have left.

Day 4

MahéShared transfers and ferry

After breakfast you take the ferry to Mahé, usually via Praslin, and are met at the Victoria jetty for the drive to your hotel. The afternoon is free for the beach. Beau Vallon has a long, gentle beach and a relaxed row of restaurants for an evening meal.

Day 5

MahéShared tour vehicle, full day

A guided day with lunch and entry fees included. It starts in Victoria at the clock tower and the Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke market, visits the shops and marina on Eden Island, then climbs into the hills to the Mission Lodge viewpoint and a Creole cultural village before winding down to a south-coast beach.

Day 6

MahéShared airport transfer

Breakfast, then time to pack and enjoy the hotel until you are collected for the airport. If your flight leaves late, a late check-out can usually be requested, and a last walk along the sand is a fine way to end three islands in five days.

Good to know

Frequently asked

Most visitors come for a few hours and leave on the afternoon boat. Staying the night means you have the island in the early morning and evening, when the beaches are almost empty and the roads are quiet except for bicycles.
You paddle a kayak with a transparent hull, so you can watch the fish and seabed below as you go. On La Digue it follows the shallow, sheltered water along Anse Source d’Argent with a guide. No experience is needed, but you should be able to swim.
Yes. The Vallée de Mai is a protected reserve and charges an entry fee per person, which is set by the park authority and changes from time to time. We confirm whether it is covered by the tour or payable on the day when we quote.
The fast ferries take normal suitcases, usually one large bag and one small bag per person, with a fee for extra pieces. If you add a domestic flight between Mahé and Praslin, the allowance is lower, so soft bags and packing light make island hopping easier.
Yes. Families enjoy the bicycles on La Digue and the calm beaches, though very young children may need a child seat on the bikes or a golf-cart taxi. The kayak tour has minimum age rules, which we check when we know the ages of your children.
