Day-by-day itinerary
Met at Zurich Airport and taken to Lucerne, an hour away. The Chapel Bridge, the old town and the lakefront for the evening. Overnight in Lucerne.
To Engelberg by train and up to Titlis with the rotating Rotair cable car, for the snow, the glacier cave and the Cliff Walk. A lake boat in the late afternoon. Overnight in Lucerne.
The panoramic train over the Brünig Pass and along Lake Brienz, and Harder Kulm above the town for the view of both lakes. Overnight in Interlaken.
Through Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg to the highest railway station in Europe, with the Aletsch Glacier and the Ice Palace, and down via Grindelwald. Overnight in Interlaken.
East through Zurich and over the Arlberg Pass into Austria, about four hours. The old town under the Golden Roof and the Nordkette cable car for the view over the city if the day allows. Overnight in Innsbruck.
Two hours east to Salzburg. A guided walk of the old town — the cathedral, Getreidegasse and Mozart's birthplace — and the funicular up to the Hohensalzburg fortress for the view. Overnight in Salzburg.
A private car to Hallstatt, early, for the lakeside village and the skywalk above it, then the lakes of the Salzkammergut and St Wolfgang on the way back. The Mirabell gardens in the evening. Overnight in Salzburg.
Two and a half hours east to Vienna. St Stephen's Cathedral, the Graben and a coffee house in the afternoon, and the Ringstrasse by tram in the evening. Overnight in Vienna.
Schönbrunn Palace with a timed entry in the morning, the Hofburg quarter and the Opera in the afternoon, and a last Viennese dinner. Overnight in Vienna.
