Cairo with an Alexandria Day Trip: the Pyramids, the Citadel and Old Cairo, 4 Nights

Our representative meets you inside Cairo International Airport with a name board. Once you are through the visa formalities and have your luggage, you are driven to your hotel to check in. No meals are included today.

After breakfast you visit the three pyramids of Giza, stop for photographs at the panorama point, and go on to the Sphinx. After lunch there are stops at a papyrus institute and a perfume workshop, where the way each was made in ancient Egypt is demonstrated. The day ends in Old Cairo with the Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and the walls of the Roman fortress of Babylon, before you return to the hotel. After an early breakfast you drive to Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast, about 250 kilometres from Cairo. You visit the Mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi and the catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, and stop for photographs outside the Library of Alexandria. Lunch is seafood. Afterwards you stop for photographs outside the Citadel of Qaitbay on the harbour; the library and the citadel are seen from outside and are not entered. You drive back to Cairo for the night. After breakfast your guide takes you to the Citadel of Salah El Din and, within it, the alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. After lunch you walk through Khan el-Khalili, the old open-air market, and visit the El Hussein Mosque and the Al-Azhar Mosque beside it, before returning to the hotel.
