Day by day

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

KochiOvernight On boardShip

Report by 10:00 am to the passenger facilitation desk at the Lakshadweep wharf on Willingdon Island, Kochi; boarding is from 10:00 to 10:30 am, with a bus from the boarding point to the ship. Lunch, evening tea with snacks and dinner are served on board as the ship leaves for the islands.

Day 2

KalpeniOvernight On boardShip

Kalpeni lies 287 km from Kochi, inside a wide, shallow lagoon that also encloses the islets of Tilakkam and Pitti and the uninhabited island of Cheriyam. Morning tea at 6:00 am and breakfast on board at 7:00 am, then ashore from about 7:30 am to a welcome drink on the island. Water sports run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, a buffet lunch is served at the beach at 1:00 pm, and sightseeing follows until mid-afternoon. After evening tea you are back on the ship by about 4:45 pm, with dinner on board. Here that means swimming, reef-walking, kayaks, sailboats and pedal boats, and a visit to the lighthouse. The islands and the order in which they are visited are set for each sailing and can change.

Day 3

MinicoyOvernight On boardShip

Minicoy is the southernmost island of Lakshadweep, 398 km from Kochi: crescent-shaped, about 10.6 km long, the second-largest in the group, and with one of its largest lagoons. The day ashore follows the same pattern, with a welcome drink, water sports in the morning, lunch at the beach, sightseeing in the afternoon and dinner back on board.

Day 4

KavarattiOvernight On boardShip

Kavaratti, 404 km from Kochi, has been the headquarters of the islands’ administration since 1964. Its calm lagoon is suited to water sports and swimming, and the marine aquarium shows the life of the reef. The day ashore follows the same pattern, and scuba diving can be taken here at extra cost. The ship sails for Kochi in the evening.

Day 5

KochiShip

Morning tea and breakfast are served on board before the ship arrives at Kochi, and you disembark when it is announced. Keep the rest of the day free rather than booking a tight onward connection, because ship timings can change.

Frequently asked

The cruise runs on set sailing dates for each season, and we do not hold a current schedule or fare list for it. Sailing dates, cabin availability and the fare must be confirmed for the dates you want to travel, which is why this page shows Price on Request. Tell us your dates and the number of adults and children, and we will check the nearest sailing and send a personalised quotation. Fares are per person and differ by cabin class, and children aged 1 to 10 travel on a child fare.
The programme covers Kalpeni, Minicoy and Kavaratti, one island a day, with every night spent on board. The islands and their order are flexible and are set for each sailing, and the ship’s programme can change without notice because of arrival and departure timings or other unforeseen reasons. Your quotation states the islands for your sailing.
Every traveller needs a Lakshadweep entry permit, which is included with the heritage fee and arranged as part of the booking. Foreign nationals are admitted to the islands only on a tourist visa and should check with us before planning.
MV Kavaratti is a passenger ship that sails between Kochi and the islands. It has cafeterias, snack bars, a doctor on call and an upper-deck promenade, and cabins are sold in two classes, Diamond and Gold. Meals on board are buffets, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian served separately.
Allow a day in Kochi before the sailing and another after it. Boarding is at 10:00 am on Willingdon Island on the first day, and ship timings can change. Travel to and from Kochi is not included; we can arrange a hotel, local sightseeing and a backwater cruise in Kochi on request.
Kayaking, snorkelling and a glass-bottom boat ride are included once. Scuba diving is not included; it can be taken at Kavaratti and is paid separately. All water activities depend on the weather and the sea on the day.
No. The consumption of liquor is prohibited in Lakshadweep.
