Day 1

LehPrivate airport transfer

You fly into Leh, where our representative meets you and you are driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is kept completely free so that you can rest and get used to the altitude. Dinner is at the hotel. Meals included today: dinner.

Day 2

LehPrivate vehicle

After breakfast you drive out along the Indus for a day of sights west of Leh: the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the Hall of Fame museum, Magnetic Hill, and the Sangam, the viewpoint above the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. You return to Leh for dinner and the night. Meals included today: breakfast and dinner.

Day 3

LehPrivate vehicle

This is a very long day, starting at about five in the morning. You drive over the Chang La, with views down to the villages and the summer pastures where yaks graze, and on through Durbuk to the western shore of Pangong Lake, a long, narrow lake of blue, brackish water, part of which lies on the far side of the border with China. After time at the lake you drive back the same way to Leh for dinner and the night. Meals included today: breakfast and dinner.

Day 4

LehPrivate vehicle

Today's excursion is to the Khardung La, the high pass on the road north from Leh, for the view of the snow peaks from the top. You return to Leh in the late afternoon; dinner and the night are at your hotel. Meals included today: breakfast and dinner.

Day 5

LehPrivate airport transfer

After breakfast you are driven to Leh airport for your flight, where the package services end. Meals included today: breakfast.

How do we reach the start of the Leh Short Stay (4-night) package, and are flights included?

The package starts and ends at Leh airport, and flights are not included; they are quoted separately and we can add them to your quotation. There is no road journey into Ladakh on this trip.

Is the Ladakh permit included in the Leh Short Stay (4-night) package?

Yes. The Ladakh inner line permit and the environment fee are included, and we arrange the permit using the identity documents we ask you for when you book. Rules for foreign passport holders are different, so tell us the nationality of everyone travelling and we will confirm what applies.

How does the Leh Short Stay (4-night) package deal with the altitude?

You arrive by air, so the height is reached all at once. The first day is left completely free for rest, the second stays beside the Indus near Leh, and the two high-pass days come after that. The whole trip is at high altitude and it crosses very high road passes, so take the first day's rest seriously, drink plenty of water and avoid exertion until you have adjusted. If you have a heart or lung condition, or are travelling with young children or older relatives, speak to your doctor before booking.

Does the Leh Short Stay (4-night) package include a guide, and what is the vehicle?

There is no guide: the sightseeing is done with your driver, and entrance fees at the sights are paid on the spot. The vehicle is not air-conditioned. It is an SUV-type vehicle for up to six travellers and a tempo traveller for eight or more, and it is provided for the journeys in the itinerary.

Where do we stay on the Leh Short Stay (4-night) package, and which meals are included?

All four nights are in the same hotel in Leh. You choose the category, from standard to luxury, and we name each property in your quotation. Breakfast and dinner are included every day; lunches are not. The programme runs in the summer season, from April to September, and we confirm the operating dates when you book.
