You are met at Edinburgh airport and transferred privately to your hotel. A private skip-the-line tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia follows, with transport included — the former royal yacht is moored at Leith and is preserved more or less as it was in service. · Edinburgh
A hop-on hop-off sightseeing day around Edinburgh. The castle sits on its rock at one end of the Royal Mile with the palace at the other, and the Georgian New Town lies across a valley from both. A whisky tasting of three single malts can be arranged locally in the evening. · Edinburgh
You travel from Edinburgh to Inverness on a second-class train ticket, with at least one change along the way. On arrival you make your own way from Inverness station to your hotel. The run north crosses the Firth of Forth and climbs through the Cairngorms. · Inverness
