Day-by-day itinerary
You arrive at Osaka airport and are driven to your hotel on a private basis. Osaka is Japan's commercial second city and noticeably less formal than Tokyo, which makes it an easy place to land. The rest of the day is free. · Osaka
A guided walking tour of Osaka on a seat-in-coach basis, running as a round trip from the Umeda district, with a Western-style lunch provided. Osaka is a walking city in a way Tokyo is not — the central districts run into one another and the canal quarter is best seen on foot. · Osaka
No touring is scheduled today. The day is yours, and after a walking tour you will have a sense of which districts are worth returning to. Anything you choose to arrange is at your own cost. · Osaka
A full day out from Osaka taking in both old capitals, on a seat-in-coach basis and with a Western-style lunch provided. Kyoto held the imperial court for more than a thousand years and escaped wartime bombing, which is why so much survives. Nara is older again, and the deer in its temple park are entirely unbothered by visitors. · Osaka
No touring is scheduled. A second free day gives room to go back to Kyoto independently, or simply to spend the day eating, which in Osaka is a legitimate plan. Anything you arrange is at your own cost. · Osaka
Breakfast at the hotel, then check out and a private transfer to Osaka airport for your onward flight. Your onward flight is not part of this package, so allow the check-in time your airline requires.
